What Is Design Future London

The Mayor of London has set a London-wide challenge to think about your town center or your neighborhood. We want you to identify an opportunity to build a better London for everyone - a safer, fairer, greener, and more prosperous city for all Londoners.

Young people from all over London will compete to submit the best ideas.

Through this challenge the Mayor wants you, the next generation of young Londoners, to understand the exciting world of the built environment. As part of the process, you will learn about the skills needed for a career in the built environment and gain an understanding of some of the opportunities and careers that could be open to you.

Building the London we see today has taken generations of professionals committed to delivering the best possible city. For this challenge we want you to think about some of the challenges faced by Londoners in today's society. What solutions would you give to improve the quality of life for future generations?

The Mayor wants to see London through your eyes and learn from you - could you give some new, innovative, creative solutions and different ways of tackling some of the challenges we face as a city?"

How Do We fix the Problem

You need to identify an opportunity or a problem in Kingston. Then, find a solution that focuses on the challenge of making places (or spaces) for communities. Consider, what you want to see in the Town Centre? What should town centres look like in the future?

What are the key questions and concerns you should address? Who are the intended users of the area? By answering these questions, you can clarify the scope and focus of your proposal and tailor the solution to suit your audience.

What we have to do

This challenge encourages young Londoners to learn more about their local area, Kingston - primarily Adams Way but you could choose any area. Think about what Kingston already offers. What might be missing? How it can be improved? How do you see it evolving or being improved in the future for the community?

We would like you to create your design solution based on a central statement:

Think about the local area in which you live - your neighborhood and your town center. How can we build a better London for everyone - making it a safer, fairer, greener, and more prosperous city for all Londoners?
